Description

The USS Excelsior. She was originally the first of her kind. A proto-type that would give way to a fleet of ships of the same classification. No one expected it to become a legend in its own right, but there was hope. The Excelsior was crucial in stopping a mad time traveler and saved the peace conference between the Klingon Empire and the Federation. However, it was an Excelsior of another timeline. One where Earth was at war with the Klingons and had mostly lost. So Starfleet felt that that ship deserved as much honor as the legendary Enterprise. When the new Ambassador classes came out, one was made into the Excelsior-A under the command of Captain Sulu’s son, Hiromi Sulu. Now a new Excelsior was built, the B. With her comes a new Captain and a new Crew to bring about a new chapter in the Excelsior legacy.

Captain Jack Crusher: This is Jack’s first Command after spending years as Jean-Luc Picard’s second officer aboard the USS Stargazer before it was lost during the Battle of Maxia. A week earlier his life was saved by the Chief of Security Pug Joseph and so he is doing everything he can to do what is right by Pug. Though Starfleet has a standard uniform for all of its officers and enlisted men, Jack designed this motif for his crew as an homage to the Crew of both original Excelsiors. Starfleet approved of his decision. Most of his crew had attended Starfleet Academy together. Jack chose them to see if he couldn’t produce the same results as another ship whose command crew had attended the Academy together and their bond is stronger than most crews in the fleet.

Commander Kestra Troi: Kestra was driven to succeed by both her parents Captain Ian Andrew Troi and Lwaxana Troi. An incident when she was seven almost cost her her life when she chased the family dog, but her father, still a Lieutenant, saw her just in time and pulled her out of the water before she drowned. She met a young man of Native American decent at the Academy named Chakotay. While there, the two had a torrid love affair. When they graduated, they parted ways. She served with distinction aboard any ship she was on which brought her to the attention of Jack Crusher who beat Captain Picard in choosing her as his first officer. Kestra is an empath and uses it when she can to help in very tense situations.

Lieutenant Miles O’Brien: Miles grew up in a traditional Irish household preferring traditionally cooked meals compared to replicated ones. His father wanted him to be a concert cellist, but at the age of eighteen, he left home and enlisted in Starfleet. His first posting was on the Rutledge during the Cardassian conflicts. With all the accolades and awards he earned, as well as fashioning himself as a jack of all trades, Starfleet commissioned him and gave him the Chief Engineer’s position for the new Excelsior. There is one aspect of his personality that will never change. He hates being called sir. He started out as an enlisted man so he prefers his staff to call him just O’Brien or Chief. He treats everyone equally, whether subordinate or superior. This quality has endeared him to his staff.

Lieutenant Junior Grade Zhevla: Zhevla is a Shokan engineering genius. She entered Starfleet Academy alongside Worf, Zak Kebron, Tania Tobias, Soleta and Mark McHenry. Although she was the biggest one of the group, she always did her best to treat everyone equally. Her personality was one that endeared her to other cadets. When Jack Crusher began his little experiment, he looked up her record and recommended her as O’Brien’s Assistant Chief Engineer. She does everything she can to make her people proud of her as well her Captain. However, she often and accidentally makes Chief O’Brien mad at her because she constantly calls him sir.

Commander Beverly Crusher: Beverly is Jack’s wife. Through most of their respective carriers their time had been spent apart. They would get together when they could during mutual leaves or other such occurrences. Finally, with Jack getting his own command, he requested her as his Chief Medical Officer. Along with her came their two children Wesley and Melissa. Beverly enjoys her time with her fellow crew members and is happy to be on the same ship as her husband.

Lieutenant Noah Revington: Noah is a medical prodigy. Like all Canian’s he was considered an adult at age fifteen, however, by age nine he already had a good understand of the biology of his people. By age twelve, he understood the biology of many major species and how to cure many of their illnesses. By the time he entered Starfleet Academy he had a better working knowledge of medicine than some of his professors. This knowledge as well as the knowledge he gained helped him excel in medicine on two other ships before being requested as Assistant Chief Medical Officer aboard the Excelsior-B by Doctor Crusher. Although some would expect him to be haughty because of his talents, he is actually humble because of his understanding of the inner workings of many of the sentient species known to the Federation.

Ensign Volen: Ensign Volen is young and has a lot to learn. He tries not to act with an air of superiority, but he has found it difficult to get along with “emotional” beings. Volen had to start learning how to deal with his problem with help of the Chief Science Officer. He has had to learn what Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations means. It has not been easy getting over some of his prejudices, but Volen is trying so that he can work better with his colleagues as well as the rest of the crew and perform better at his job.

Lieutenant Commander Vincent Fontana is a kind man and he has to be to fill the roll of Counselor. Vinnie, as he sometimes likes to be called by others, is the kind of person anyone can talk to. He also spends time on the holodeck belting out old songs sung by the likes of James Darren, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. His advice may seem old world to the other Officers, but even old world advice can have practical applications in modern society. He loves his work and now with this transfer to the Excelsior-B, he hopes to help even more people than before.

Lieutenant Junior Grade Soleta: Soleta was one of a small group of cadets whom not only attended the academy together, but also grew close together like those of the graduating class of ’51. Soleta discovered a Romulan Smuggler had raped her mother and that she was half Romulan. She took a brief leave of absence from Starfleet and went to Thallonia to do some research. She escaped from persecution on that planet with Ambassador Spock. She was recalled into Starfleet by Captain Jack Crusher who wished her to be his Chief Science Officer. She would have declined if not for aid from Captain Saavik, and Admirals Hovan and D’Espall Ranor who was able to help her come to terms with her mixed heritage and continue following the Vulcan path. Though she doesn’t show it, she cares deeply for her fellow Academy graduates and hopes to server her Captain well.

Lieutenant Junior Grade Worf: Worf is the first Klingon to enter Starfleet Academy. His parents were killed in a Romulan Attack on the colony they were living on. He and his brother Kurn were rescued and raised by human parents, Sergey and Helena Rozhenko. The brothers grew up together with an older brother Nikolai in the town of Minsk, Russia, but in some aspects longed for home. The two were allowed to spend time on Qo’nos with friends of their father’s house. While there he was given a vision by Kahless that he would become the first Klingon to do something that no other Klingon before him had. When Worf returned after attaining the First Right of Ascension, and Kurn staying with his “cousins” Worf was given a gift to represent his home of Minsk in the form of a stuffed replica of Fievel Mouskewitz which he felt was a gift of honor. Though there was some trepidation in allowing him to enter, he still had values that made him worth of entering the Academy. Though he did not initially get along with the Brikar Zak Kebron, the two are close like brothers. Worf serves on the Excelsior-B as Chief of Security, a job he does not take lightly.

Lieutenant Junior Grade Mark McHenry: Mark is the great grandson of Carolyn Palmer and a Being known as Apollo. Apollo had been suffering from a case of dementia when he met the crew of the Enterprise back in the 2260s, but even during his mental state he bore a child with Palmer. Mark was the first male descendant of Apollo and was favored by Artemis. She revealed his heritage to him as being the descendant of an ancient Kerovan people with now internalized powers. These powers had given Mark an uncanny grasp of navigation. Artemis wanted him to be an ambassador for her people and the rest of the species of the galaxy, but he felt the best way to do this was to join Starfleet. With a little coaxing from her friends, she gave her blessing. Mark went to the Academy and became friends with other cadets there and demonstrated to his teachers his understanding of navigation. After graduation he was assigned to the Valentina where he became known as the best pilot around. He was then requested aboard the Excelsior-B as her primary Conn officer. His former Captain didn’t want to give him up, but he was able to convince him that this was the best move for him.

Lieutenant Junior Grade Tania Tobias: Tania Tobias went to the Academy with Soleta, Zak Kebron, Worf, and Mark McHenry. Tania was roommates with Soleta and grew close to her friends at the Academy. Her instinct has served her well over the years including when she Soleta and Worf were assigned to the USS Aldrin. After the commander of the away mission they were on to hunt down Romulan Smugglers was killed, she took command and hunted them down. She wanted to bring them back for questioning, but was not able to due to the fact that Worf showed them no mercy. Though the incident troubled her, she tried not to allow it to ruin her friendship, especially since they would be serving together on the Excelsior-B. She was given the Operations console to man and it is one she will do to the best of her ability.

Lieutenant Junior Grade Zak Kebron: The third Brikar to join Starfleet Academy, but the first one to pass. The Brikar and the Klingons have been enemies seeing the other as barbarians. Zak picked a fight with Worf on the first day, but Starfleet decided that if the two were going to serve together they had to get over problems early, so they were assigned as roommates during their Academy stay. They soon found ways to work together and eventually became friends. After graduation, Zak was assigned to the USS Ranger in the Security and Tactical division. Soon he was assigned to the Excelsior-B as the Chief Tactical Officer. He is happy to be on a ship surrounded by his friends from the Academy. Despite his somber attitude, to him, the Excelsior-B is home.

Captain Hvrashi ch'Thelal: Thel is an Andorian chen who had originally started out wanting to join Starfleet Intelligence, but a chance meeting with an old friend changed him to join the Starfleet Marines. Like on many Starfleet vessels, the Marines are some of the unsung heroes that people forget are there and no one knows that better than Thel. However, he didn’t give up. Finally he was recognized by Captain Jack Crusher and was given a Platoon aboard the Excelsior-B. he will do everything in his power to make his Commanding Officer proud of his choice.

Wesley and Melissa Crusher: Wesley has been hailed as a boy genius. His sister, Melissa is only six years younger, but she also shows sighs of high aptitude. Wesley hopes to enter the Academy’s early entrance program but knows the competition will be fierce. Melissa just wants to live life to the fullest while she’s still young and tries making friends with the other children aboard the ship. The six years difference has not hampered the friendship between brother and sister. It may seem they can get away with more on the ship being the children of the Captain, however, that can’t be further from the truth. They are both responsible young adults and know how to help without getting in the way so they can be called upon more than children who wish to just play.
